Production Design: The Set That Did Not Happen for SONG OF THE STORK
One particular scene in the script for SONG OF THE STORK (2002) required a cafe to be blown up from a bomb left behind by a "spy". I was tasked to design an entire scene setting where we could control both the set and as well the explosion itself. This was to be my "Hollywood debut" designing an entire street!
But alas, the faux set did not happen, and a actual (empty) location along an actual practical street was chosen, and scene shot as per the script. Do scroll to the bottom off this post for select screengrabs (off a YouTube video of Full Film, since deleted, alas).
Featured here are my analog-drawn layout plans and elevations (not based on specific measurements, but on location recce = same space as "Hoai's Bombed House" set too) for what I had hoped to achieve, with the Art Director and Set Designer and team to further work out details and construction to said set. This would be the only drawings ever to exist for this setting.
