Rice Rhapsody / Hainan Ji Fan (2005)
SYNOPSIS: ”After being abandoned by her husband twelve years earlier, Jen raised her three sons alone. She uses her mother's secret Hainan Chicken Rice recipe and opened a restaurant to support the family. Her two older sons, Daniel and Harry are gay. As a woman with traditional values, Jen is fretful that she would have no grandchildren, if Leo, too, turns out to be gay. She and her best friend, Kim Chui, device a plan to keep Leo straight.”
“Rice Rhapsody” (alternative title “Hainan Chicken Rice”) (Chinese: 海南雞飯, literally meaning "Hainanese chicken rice") is a 2004 film directed by Kenneth Bi (Film also written by Kenneth Bi). The cast includes Sylvia Chang, Martin Yan and Mélanie Laurent. Jackie Chan was one of the executive producers. (Wikipedia / IMDb).
Released in 2005, this was my 6th feature film, for which I both credited as “Production Designer” and “Art Director” (IMDb). This was to be my last feature film project before I went into a decade-long hiatus.
